Q. What is dry mouth?

A. Also termed as Xerostomia, dry mouth is the decreased flow of saliva. Dry mouth needs to be treated right away before certain gum diseases and tooth decay strike your mouth. Remember that we all need sufficient saliva to wash away food debris in the mouth. Enough saliva can also help reduce plaque because it neutralizes the acids that are produced by plaque.

Q. What is trench mouth?

A. Because of bad oral hygiene resulting in high levels of bacteria in the mouth, a person may become afflicted with trench mouth. Trench mouth is a serious and painful gum infection.
